Change management and emergency preparedness/response are inextricably linked to each other and may at times be developed concurrently. At a time of crisis, one of the main goals is to prevent or minimize the impact of change (expected or unexpected).

Come hear Ms. Ria C. Aiken, Director of the Mayor’s Office of Emergency Preparedness for the City of Atlanta, share a case study in standing up a preparedness functionality for the city of Atlanta. Atlanta's current preparedness plan and capabilities were born in the aftermath of the "Snowmageddon" debacle in 2014 and eventually proved to be successful in the city's readiness to respond to the I-85 collapse.

Ms. Aiken joined the City of Atlanta in September 2015, possessing over 20-years in operational excellence and leadership assisting local, state, and federal clients in environmental consulting, time-critical, emergency, and disaster response, hazardous waste and remediation, fuels infrastructure construction, and air emissions and permitting.
